Undergraduate Thesis of the Year 2026

The 2026 BISAS Undergraduate of the Year Award invites universities and colleges to showcase their remarkable animal science undergraduates. Deadline for application - 31st July 2026.

Do you have outstanding individuals in this field who truly merit special recognition?

 

SCOPE
Submissions must relate to the following animal science areas
• Areas and specialisms related to the welfare and productivity of farm animals to help produce quality, safe and environmentally sustainable food
• Animal health, behaviour and welfare
• Management and care of equine, companion and captive zoo animals
• Environment and Climate Change
Only theses adhering to this stated scope will be considered.

GUIDELINES
• Two entries per Institution
• Open to undergraduates, via institution entry, studying animal science or related study areas
• Entries should relate to projects or dissertations submitted July 2025 - June 2026
• Entries will be shortlisted on the abstract provided with the thesis. Abstracts must follow the additional guidelines provided
• A lay summary of your work should be included with your application.
• Submissions must be in PDF Format
• All entries must be submitted in UK English
• Entry deadline 31st July 2026

1st PRIZE
• Opportunity to present at the BISAS Annual Conference 2027
• Abstract printed in Conference Proceedings
• Complimentary BISAS 2027 Delegate Conference Pass
• £150 towards travel and accommodation
• Thesis will be summarised for publication in the BISAS Fledgling Bytes series plus a BISAS newsletter article about the winner

HIGHLY COMMENDED
2nd and 3rd finalists will be acknowledged
Theses that are Highly Commended will be summarised for publication in the BISAS Fledgling
Byte series plus a BISAS newsletter article about the entrant.
