Editor-in-Chief
The animal Consortium is seeking candidates for the position of an Editor-in-Chief for animal.
animal is one of the three scientific journals jointly owned by a Consortium comprised of the British and Irish Society of Animal Science (BISAS), the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) and the Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement (INRAE). In 2024 and 2025, Agroscope (Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Switzerland), IRTA (Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology, Catalonia, Spain) and WUR (Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands) have become associated parties of the Consortium. All articles in the animal Consortium journals are published as Gold Open Access by Elsevier on behalf of the Consortium.
animal publishes the best, innovative and cutting-edge science that relates to farmed or managed animals, and that is relevant to whole animal outcomes, and/or to animal management practices. Papers can be accepted from all species if they are in, or contribute knowledge to, farmed and managed animal systems (e.g., cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, horses, rabbits, fish). The journal publishes monthly issues and from 4 to 6 supplement issue per year.

Role of the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the development of the journal within the framework of the strategy and budget defined by the Management Board.
More specifically, the Editor-in-Chief (EiC)
is a member of the Editorial Board,
works in close relationship with two associate Editor-in-Chiefs and a deputy Editor-in-Chief (in charge of supplements) in all operations deriving from decisions made by the Management Board to enhance the published contents and promote the journal,
develops the editorial policy, update the guide for authors, manage the Editorial Board and solve ethical issues, and
ensures the coordination, preparation and publication of the journal, in coordination with the publisher
Expectations
Candidates are expected to be internationally recognised scientists in animal science, to have experience in writing scientific articles and editorial duties, to possess good communication skills, a good command of written and oral English, and to take initiative while being a team player.
Candidates are also expected to work at least 2.5 days/week for the journal on a regular basis. About 10 days are required for attendance to animal Consortium meetings.
The Editor-in-Chief will receive an honorarium for his/her activities.
